SPEED KING Tribute band to DEEP PURPLE

SPEED KING is first and foremost a band made of 5 friends who have known each other for several years.

It is on Christian Genty (drummer) and Chris Agatensi’s (singer) initiative that this group was created, they had already been playing together in a blues-rock band and they were the ones who had the idea: why not creating a tribute band to DEEP PURPLE?

It was not hard to convince the three other guys Thierry Dormio (keyboard), Jean-Michel Fabris (basist) et Jean-Christian Thiry (guitarist) to join.

All of them look at DEEP PURPLE in admiration since its beginnings. It appeared as an evidence as from the very first rehearsal : why didn’t we think about this before! It was a return to the roots for everyone…

Their aim is not to get a perfect replica of the songs, they don’t even try to copy DEEP PURPLE’s musicians’ solos. They want to keep the same spirit but they prefer to give the best deal to improvisation and feeling. What they really want is to enjoy through the art of rock music together and to share it with their audience during concerts…

Chris AGATENSI

He has been singing on the rock stage and on the blues stage for many years with bands called SHORT FUSE and DIESEL DUST among others. He is a fan of great rock singers like Johnny Van Zant, Joe Cocker and of course, Ian Gillan and David Coverdale that’s why it was so obvious for him to create this tribute band. He does play the guitar as well. His favourite album by DEEP PURPLE is BURN…

Jean Christian THIRY

As a real guitar enthusiast, KINOU is a true rock guitarist. He likes it when it rocks. He played with several bands like KAZAN with Christian (drummer). At the same time, he plays with a composition band: DERNIERE MINUTE. He was mostly influenced by Ritchie Blackmore of course and by Michael Schenker as well. His favourite album by DEEP PURPLE is MACHINE HEAD…

Christian GENTY

After having been listening to Ian Paice he decided to learn how to play the drums by himself when he was still very young! Since then he has had several experiences with bands including the band KAZAN with Jean-Christian (the guitarist). Later, he got interested in jazz music and played with the band called METHYLENE. His favourite drummer is Steve Gadd. He is the one who decided to create this tribute band which was for him, a way to go back to his roots. His favourite album by DEEP PURPLE is IN ROCK…

Thierry DORMIO

He started playing the piano at the age of 11. It was a huge revelation for him when he first listened to the album entitled MADE IN JAPAN. It was his big brother who made him listen to it. He would keep listening to it for years. He also really enjoys listening to progressiv'70s-rockbands (YES, GENESIS, ANGE..). Since then on he has been interested in every kind of music. As a musician, he has travelled a lot. He composes songs as well. His favourite album by DEEP PURPLE is MACHINE HEAD…

Jean Michel FABRIS

He grew up during the seventies brought up by the great, legendary bands of this time. He started learning how to play the bass by himself at the age of 12. The first time he listened to the album entitled IN ROCK was a real discovery for him. He is keen on every type of music and he played with Christian (drummer) in the band called METHYLENE as well.
